Analytical Services
CCR Services’ analytical lab, now located inside the Alastair Ross Technology Centre, supports solvent system performance through practical testing, monitoring, and applied research. Our lab services help operators better understand solvent condition, identify contamination concerns, and make informed decisions before small changes become larger operating issues.
From routine solvent quantification to custom research and development work, the lab provides technical insight for amine, glycol, physical solvent, and carbon capture applications.
Solvent Quantification & Monitoring
Maintaining solvent integrity is essential to the safe, efficient, and continuous operation of gas sweetening, dehydration, and carbon capture systems. CCRS provides specialized analytical services for amine and glycol solvent systems across upstream, midstream, and CCUS operations.
Standard Analysis
Establish a clear baseline for your lean solvent stream with routine testing for pH, density, water content, foaming tendency, heat-stable salts, anions, cations, amines, and organic components.
Ideal for ongoing solvent health monitoring, troubleshooting, campaign support, and pre-reclamation assessment.
Distillation Analysis
Evaluate solvent reclamation potential with before-and-after analysis of the as-received sample and bench-scale distilled product.
Includes the full standard analytical suite plus a mass balance report to quantify solvent recovery, residue fractions, and expected purification performance.
Centrifugation Analysis
Diagnose amine systems affected by hydrocarbon contamination through bench-scale separation of hydrocarbons, solids, and the recovered aqueous amine phase.
Each fraction is analyzed to identify contamination sources, corrosion products, inorganic solids, and solvent recoverability after hydrocarbon removal.
For operations requiring targeted testing, CCRS also offers a full suite of individual analytical services, including HSS analysis by ion chromatography, gas chromatography, cation analysis, amine alkalinity and bound amine neutralization titrations, Karl Fischer water content determination, metals scanning by ICP-OES, hydrocarbon analysis, and elemental analysis of solids.
Research & Development
Solvent degradation, contamination, and diminishing performance are operational realities for any facility running amine or glycol-based systems, whether in gas sweetening, dehydration, or carbon capture applications.
CCRS offers targeted research and development services focused on solvent reclamation feasibility, purification process optimization, and extending the functional life of solvent inventories, helping operators reduce replacement costs and maintain system efficiency.
Bench-Scale Simulation Platform
Our bench-scale simulation platform replicates the conditions of industrial reclamation and purification processes in a controlled laboratory environment, enabling rigorous evaluation of solvent recoverability before committing to a full-scale campaign.
This is particularly valuable when working with degraded, heavily contaminated, or chemically complex solvent streams where the appropriate reclamation pathway is not immediately clea
Decision-Ready Outcomes
Mass Balance Verification
Quantitative reporting to help operators understand solvent recovery, residue fractions, and overall reclamation potential.
Feasibility Assessments
Distillation and separation feasibility assessments to determine whether a solvent can be reclaimed and which method is most effective.
Process Optimization
Optimization for specific solvent chemistries and contamination profiles to identify the treatment approach that will best extend solvent service life.
Alternative Chemistry Validation
For clients introducing modified solvent formulations or transitioning to alternative chemistries, our laboratory provides the empirical validation needed to de-risk that change before it reaches the field.
CCRS brings the technical depth and applied reclamation expertise to ensure your solvent systems perform at their full potential for as long as possible.
